As said before there are plenty of isps which do a monthly subscription, i use freedom2surf, and they are monthly.

But, even if you are lucky it is going to take 10-14days to get your line enabled and your service running. You would be better off saving your money and using a library or internet cafe for your access.

Virgin used to just charge you per month without you having to subscribe for a year. I don't know what the situation is now since the merger with ntl:Telewest but I'm sure it's worth checking out anyway :-)
