I think there might actually be. A real domain name, like www.yourname.com can be obtained from http://DomainLagoon.com I believe. I've never gotten one from them, though. I think you have to fill out offers and things like that.

You can also get a free subdomain. A few free providers are CJB, who provide other things as well. Their website can be found at http://CJB.net.

Another one is Us.tt, which I believe can be found at http://Freedomain.us.tt. or simply http://Us.tt.
