Interesting when you think about it-all people of all ages from all walks of life can come here, debate, argue, rant, chastise, denounce and otherwise interact on a pretty vast sociological scale. Could Y!A be translated as a simulation of society's love and hate of each other?

Not really, for both good and bad reasons.

First off, you have a subset of people on this site that have access to computers (a lot of the world has no such access), most have at least elementary skills in reading and writing and there is probably a larger population on this site who are above average on the literacy scale.

There are plenty of sites for simple mindless chatter. Although some of it definitely seeps into these forums, they attract primarily those who want to discuss ideas or things.

But I do think it does a better job of representing people of different ages and backgrounds than other sites. And the answers are often informative, intelligent and varied in perspective. Those are the answers I look for and often receive.

Peace

Hmmmm. Yes, very interesting. I also find that on Yahoo answers, there are a lot of people who think they have all the answers...just like in society. Personally, I find the questions more interesting.

Yes. This place can be more real than the reality because the people are more "free" to talk and express the ideas. This is like a parallel world.

Absolutely not. It's more on the scale of the bourgeois celebration/imposition of mediocrity, a rather tame frat party where things are controlled by the predictable behavior of its soused and denatured participants.
