I live in a small studio apartment, but would like to have wireless internet for my laptop. It is a MacBook and has Wireless N capabilities. Should I spend the extra amount for the wireless N? Or is it more of a distance thing?

Also, does the speedbooster feature on LinkSys make a huge difference?

1) wireless g router is not faster then a wireless n router.

2) are you sure your mac book has wireless n? That is a really new protocol and you mac book would have to be less then 2 months old.

3) wireless n is about 8x faster then wireless g and covers a bigger area as far a signal streangth goes, so you need to decide if it is worth it or not.

4) Speedbooster will only work between a router and a wireless g adapter that has the same speedbooster technology. So It will not work with any integrated wifi in laptops.

I have a Wireless G router, and the speed is fine. Wireless N cards are backwards compatible, so I'd just wait for the new Wireless N technology to become more widely used.

You should wait!

Wireless g right now is the fastest standard, wireless N or (Pre-N) as its technically called is the standard thats out now. Basically the N is a early release and it may suffer from technical flaws. Definately wait till the full version of Wireless-N comes out before upgrading. If you upgrade to N now you will regret it when you have to spend the money again later on a better N router.

If/once you improve to on the spot N it will strengthen the value of your computers on the LAN. This has an ever so average strengthen in how briskly you start up internet downloads which incorporate loading a internet web site. the super distinction could be the value of record transfers from one gadget to a diverse. yet another super distinction could be the area the computing device could be from the router. that's provided you have on the spot N adapters interior the computers additionally.

the wirelless n router is about 3 times faster than G, but if you are only using it for internet, which only comes in at 6mbps for cable (avg), G, a 54mbps link, is more than enough, and if range is not a problem, get the G router.
