There was no real story involving chainsaws....Tobe Hooper the director later admiited that the story was based on a killer from the a few decades before by the name of ed gein

Ed killed his mother and another lady in the town he lived in and he would dress up in clothes and accessories he made from the victims flesh


he also robbed graves as well

there was no real texas chainsaw massacre. the movie was loosely based on a man named ed gien, a serial killer from the 30s (?) who would often wear the skin of his victims.

Not the movie???? You mean the story behind the movie??? I heard there was a meat packer in Fort Worth that went on rampages like the movie. I think some parts of the movie are true.
TCM not based on Ed Guin... that was Silence of the Lambs.

TCM was made up...loosely based on Ed Gein

as was Hannibal Lector
and Norman Bates.

That is...Lector and Bates were also loosely based on Gein.

The concept was inspired by the serial killer Ed Gein. If you're interested check out the movie "Disturbed" or "Gein" and of course "psycho".
