I would personally use a honeywell vision pro 6000 7 day programmable thermostat. It is the Cadillac of the thermostats. It is an electronic touch screen stat, that you can program up to 4 different settings for each day of the week. I work for an A/C company, and I know my stats. It is what I have, and I absolutely love it.

Electronic is the most accurate and energy efficient as you can program them to reduce the heat while asleep under covers or gone and keep a comfortable level when you are at home. Energy savings will quickly pay for itself. Any programmable thermostat will do mine is a Hunter and saved us over $300.00 last winter! Cost less than $100.00

I had this problem for years: I put in a zone control and it works beautiful, should have done it years ago.
