If they are ads for employment, government services, etc. it is probably required by law. Both radio and television stations are also legally obligated to produce a minimum nimber of PSA's or public service announcements and the issue of racial equality would be considered a PSA. Also, the media does have a great influence on public opinion and the social engineers and pc people in this country are attempting to "program" human nature for what they believe will be a positive social change. Not all the ads are well done though and they do more harm than good to the goal. I do agree with your sentiment about too much of a good thing and they tend to become obsessive or boring.

Try and pick up some channels broadcasting from south of the border. You'll see nothing but 100% brown spanish speaking people in all the commercials. I don't think there's a word for "diversity" in Spanish, at least untill they sneak across the border. Same held true when I took trips to Japan and Kenya, virtually no diversity at those places either. Seems only to be a concern about lack of racial equality when the white are the racial majority.

Because it's supposed to be that way. The only place I see none is in Hispanic commercials and programming in TeleMundo and Univision. Nothing is blown out of proportion. If there is a certain race of people that you are tired of looking at in commercials... turn the tv off, or move to another country. We have been through a lot to get to this point and it is about damn time. Racial equality is inevitable. If you have a problem with it... deal with it. I did notice only white men are tired of it though. That is ya'lls problem. Furthermore you are racist if you can't stand it and it turns you against other people. Wake up. You don't run everything anymore.

I agree. We all should know (except for a small percentage of inbred rednecks) that all races are equal and we dont need the issue forced in every ad. I do understand why they do it though. They cover all their bases by doing it. You know if they didn't then someone will probably try to make an issue of it in an attempt to get money. The world is sad like that.

im not sure why you would be annoyed by this if you are 100%for diversity?
But, it does make sense tho, from a marketing perspective. We are a very diverse society, so it only makes sense that for a marteter to reach as large of an audience as possible, they will practive diversity in their commericals.

I have found it an insult to my intelligence for years now...glad someone else noticed it too...it is to the point when I see the typical one woman, one black, one chinese, now one latino I just turn the channel, I refuse to even see what they have to say...I am sick of having it shoved down my throat....15 or 20 years ago I was not a racist or sexist at all, but after having diversity shoved won my throat I am so sick of it I find myself resenting minorities now.

It's called the law suit. People freak out, feeling like they're being under-represented because their race isn't present in a McDonald's add. It's done to keep consumers happy.

Its the law (ley) and its also the fair thing to do. Also, retailers and manufacturers realize the dollar in the African American community is just as green as any other.

No, because commercials want to sell things, so they make them as free of strife and stress as they can.
