San Antonio is one of the biggest U.S. cities, but yet, they have no NFL team, but they have a professional basketball team. Do you think it's possible that they'll ever have a professional franchise football team in future years?

The best chance was a couple years ago with the hot rumor of the Vikings possibly relocating there. It won't be through expansion, so fans can never write-off the possibility that a disgruntled owner will take a hard look at the city to move a team. SA must be on the very short list for relocation, which is a good thing.

I don't think San Antonio will ever have a football team. I think the NFL is looking strictly at revenue and thinking that SA can't bring in enough money. However, when the Saints were playing in SA they sold out.

I also think that the city likes having the Spurs as the only game in town.

Last thing, it would also be very hard for an NFL team to compete with the Texas Longhorns for fans. Kind of like LA, there aren't many people that are willing to pay the high ticket price for USC or UCLA and then turn around the next day and pay for an NFL ticket. Frankly, those college teams are more exciting than an expansion team.

San Antonio isn't officially one of the biggest U.S. cities, there is almost a million illegal immigrants there. That being said, haven't you noticed the NFL is trying to leave crime ridden small market places like New Orleans?

Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. but as far a sports franchises go Houston is considered a small market without national appeal. The NFL will NEVER put a franchise in San Antonio.

If it wasn't for Hurricane Katrina the Saints would already be in L.A. The only reason the Saints finished the '05 season in the Alamodome was sheer desperation. LSU wouldn't let the Saints play all their home games on their campus in Baton Rouge and the Alamodome was the only place to take the Saints.

I honestly think that because the NFL is so popular and the population of the U.S. is rapidly rising, there will be expansion in pro football. San Antonio should be one of the first cities considered when this occurs. I don't think it will be in the very near future, but maybe sometime after 2020. LA had two teams and couldn't keep either, so some will be reluctant to see a new team go there, but San Antonio is a good sports town and has the population, infrastructure, media and financial support to have a successful NFL franchise.

It could happen but I see a team going to Los Angelas before going to San Antonio. Rumor has it the 49ers are looking to move because San Fransisco won't give them a new stadium, not sure if its gonna happen though, theres been so much history with that franchise and San Fran....

I don't know. San Antonio only has a NBA team. Jacksonville, Florida only has a NFL team. I think they should move Spurs & Jaguars either in San Antonio or Jacksonville. But I don't think San Antonio will have a NFL team in near future.

They seriously attempted to attract the Saints after Hurricane Katrina, but failed to attract them permanently. The Vikings could have, but they seem to have convinced Minnesota to let them build the new stadium. Needless to say, they would be after Los Angeles in the pecking order of cities likely to get an NFL team. The Alamodome would be a good facility, but I'm not certain many teams would want to move there. And I wonder if it has many of the same problems as the Hoosierdome / RCA Dome which have caused the Colts to build a new stadium in Indy?

Why? There are already 2 franchises in Dallas and lets face it the Cowboys are the only show in town. With no team in L.A. and no need to expand there is no chance of San Antonio getting a team.

lets face it San Antonio will get a team some day. only b/c they dont have to worry about the longhorns b/c they are in Austin and just to see the tickets cost a arm and a leg just that guy said if you dont go to school there they are like 100 or something like that. and San Antonio will bring in the money for it the only reason i know this is b/c when they have the cowboys training camp there the place is always packed or half full. but if they do mostly everyone is still going to like the dallas cowboys.

Can you imagine if San Antonio had a football team? Yeah, I can just picture now all the cheap shots, personal fouls, late hits, face masks, blocks in the back, roughing the passer/kicker, etc.
