ive owned 2 amd systems and im getting a new third one. definitely go for amd, the way their designed, they produce just as much power as an equivalent pentium and they do this using less power, meaning less heat, meaning more reliability and longer life. my last system had a amd64 3400+, it was 2.2ghz but ran as fast as a pentium 3.4ghz. my new system as an amd64 5200 x2 dual core, thats basically two 2.6ghz processors and their typically less expensive than pentiums.

Just look at the speed. 2.4 Ghz AMD probably equals to 2.6 Ghz Pentium. I'm not quite sure at the numbers..
