We realized that a plant that we have, was not draining properly. It is some sort of tree that my wife has had for 20 years. About 3-4 days ago she noticed alot of leaves had fallen off and yesterday she moved it and discovered that it was full of water. A cork pad we had it on had swelled and plugged the drainhole. We removed the pad and water drained out for a few hours. What should we do next? The tree does have alot of new growth and untll very recently it was very healthy.

If the roots are in a ball along with the soil, try leaving it exposed to air for a few days. Then re pot with some new fresh dry soil. Don't disturb the roots any more than possible.

properly it does rely at this form of plant it truly is. some flora can take little bit of overwatering, others will drown. i might set it up on a grate of a few variety, so the water can drain out, then watch it. Then locate out top style of plant it is so interior the destiny it is watered for that species. I even have made this comparable mistake and killed might houseplants earlier (I overwatered my husband's Jade plant he had for 10 years and killed it - too plenty water) - now I verify them out first.
