I know that they have a Youth Duathlon coming up soon. It might be fun for you to "get your feet wet" with a duathlon(run/bike/run). That way you don't have to worry about having a wetsuit and such for the swim-all you need is a bike and a good pair of running shoes!

www.trifind.com lists all triathlons and multi-sport events by state, check out NY and see what they have goin g on. Some races have special divisions for youth (under-18s). The youngest person I have raced with was a 9-year-old girl. You usually just need a parent or guardian to sign your form.
