I currently have a HP Pavilion dv6130us laptop that came with an Intel Centrino Duo Core Processor. Can I replace it with an AMD processor? Before I had a Turion 64x2.

The Intel Centrino Duo Core and Pro processors use the Socket M style connection for the processor. The AMD Turion 64X2 uses the socket 939, I believe. Given the fact that this is a laptop and you cannot easily replace the motherboard the answer is NO. You cannot just swap the processors. Sorry.

no, since intel has a different socket than amd you'd have to get a whole new motherboard

If your motherboard support it, then yes. Unless the motherboard is fully designed to only accept Intel products, then no.
