You need an agent. If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)
Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.
Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. Good luck!

Most of these are cast in LA or New York. If you are a beginner, I suggest getting as much experience as you can in your area. This would involve auditioning for community and university theatre, reading up on the subject, and getting an agent in your area. Many industry folks advise that you get some experience in a mid-size market like New Orleans, Chicago, Austin, or Houston...before moving to the larger markets mentioned above. It is a VERY difficult business to be successful in. The percentage of "working" actors, is far smaller than those struggling to even get an agent. It can be truly rewarding, though. Take some classes and do some theatre...you may get the bug! and find out you'd rather do nothing else....I know I did! GOOD LUCK!

It sounds like you're really interested in be becoming famous not in being an actress......there's are opportunities to act in most communities that don't involve tv or movies.

Tip: Become an actress *before* you start auditioning; that way you have something to offer, and raise your chances of being cast.

It sucks, but not typically, no. In very rare cases, if it's a well known name, maybe. Or if one of the partners (producer, casting director, director) is in the general area, or lives in a nearby state, you could audition for them directly. But I'm sorry to say that other than those rare exceptions, no. You can't audition through the internet.

all of these websites allow you to submit yourself for projects: nowcasting.com, actorsaccess.com and lacasting.com...actorsaccess.com is the only one that has projects outside of los angeles....and your state film commission will also have information....and check out sag.com for general info for getting started...
