A chicken is a fully developed specimen with bone, muscle tissue, a brain, cartilage, etc. An egg is just a cytoplasm type thing.

Because quite clearly the egg came before the chicken and then everything else in the world said "I like the taste of chicken better lets all taste like that!" And so they did

because the egg isnt made out of chicken. the eggs you eat are the ones which are not fertilized so they dont actually have chickens in them. all that is in those eggs is the fluid which contains the nutrients which the baby chicks would eat if there was one in the egg. so you're not actually eating chicken, just a sort of nutrient liquid for the baby chick if there were one

Sometimes, if you have a rooster in with your hens, you will get an egg with a half-formed chick inside. This experience at a young age caused me to never eat eggs again.
