I would send it to the cleaners. You can also wash it in cold water using Woolite. Do not put it in the dryer. Hang to dry.

the easy way is to take it to the dry cleaners
the hard way is fill your bath tub with cold water( heat makes wool shrink) put the blanket in the water and use your hair soap to clean
Swirl the soapy water around the blanket
Drain the tub and fill again (cold water) to rinse.
Drain tub a second time and squish out as much water as you can with out wringing (wringing will miss shape the blanket)
take it out side or leave it somewhere where it can dry mostly flat (try laying it on a porch railing to let the breeze flow through... avoid the clothes line... this will miss shape the blanket... the weight of the wet fabric will stretch the blanket)

soak and hand wash. the reason the fibers change or get ruined in washer and dryer is because of the process whereby the machine makes the garment rub up against other garments and/or itself. you want to avoid this to minimize pilling so you dont really want the machine to turn the drum back and forth if youre too lazy have them dry cleaned
