I used to be in competitive figure skating and I've been teaching the last few years. This year I may stop teaching but it feels sad thinking that won't be a part of my life anymore. Maybe I am just making it a bigger deal than it is. I'm wondering how other people have moved through similar changes in their lives.

Growing up (since the age of 6) I studied ballet. And I LOVED it! The classical music, the gracefulness, the posture everything! I had a wonderful teacher who I thought was a princess because she was so pretty. lol. Anyway I studied with her and the other girls in the class up until my Sophomore year of highschool. When I returned home one day I was informed that my ballet teacher's school was shutting down and closing its doors (something about the teacher leaving for France to be apart of a travelling show. I still don't know exactly what happened). But as you can imagine I was DEVASTATED! I was encouraged to go to other schools and join their classes, but I couldn't possibly! That had been the only teacher, and class I'd ever known (as far as ballet was concerned). I had no choice in the matter, however. I HAD to move on. And I haven't returned to ballet since. But BEHOLD! Amidst my sadness and melancholy, I consumed myself in all the other things I like to do: writing, singing, and acting. I soon realized that I didn't have to choose one gift over another. And as far as ballet class, since I've been exploring my other talents, I've found I'm just as good (if not better) at those! So I guess the moral of the story is take this time to explore other things you like doing. Who knows, you may find out that you like them even better! LOL. God Bless!

Revel in the new job/activity that you've chosen and accept the fact that you can still incorporate plenty of things that you learned as a teacher into your new life.

Don't hang up your gloves! If you don't use it, you lose it.

I've played music for over 15 years now and I've thought of selling instruments but just can't bear it.
