what do you guys think of the book Twilight by stephenie myers? do you guys think it's better than the sequel, New Moon?

I just happened to come across Twilight a few weeks back and I remembered that this was one of the books mentioned quite a number of times in Yahoo Answers. I picked it up and was hooked right from page one. The introduction was short, sweet, but very effective.
Now I am in the middle of reading New Moon and so far, I found it just as good. I am two-thirds way through and the story is building up towards the climax. I remember coming across people here saying that New Moon was not as good as Twilight, but it's not true. It's a great read. Well, to me, at least.
I know some would make this comparison because there weren't enough pages attributed to Edward. But I thought Meyer was smart to limit his appearance this way. Too much of a good thing might make the romance stale. So now that he was taken away, you'd appreciate Edward more.
But Jacob Black isn't too bad. Not too bad at all. I thought he was a refreshing change for Bella. Though I do get upset with Bella for being too beholden onto him, for being a tad selfish, but I do understand her situation. She CHOSE to be the damsel in distress because she thought that was the only way she would get a glimpse of Edward, through what she called "hallucination" - Edward's voice in her head.
I can't say more because I haven't finished reading. But I am enjoying New Moon, as much as I've enjoyed Twilight. But then again, it's a different cup of tea for everyone....

Yes, I do think Twilight was better than New Moon. But I have a feeling that Eclipse will be better yet. I can't wait til it comes out this fall. Neither can my daughters! I have a feeling we will be fighting about who reads it first!

I love it. It is one of my favourite books and I like it better than the sequel

I think tis a good book and its NOT better than New Moon.

twilight was better than the sequel becuase it introduced everyone and edward was in the book more than the second one.

I absolutely love that book. I don't really prefer one of them over the other. They're both pretty different, and fantastic in their own way.

i absolutely love them both. hard to pick....but probably twilight. well i don't know. i liked new moon a lot too. hard to pick!!!! aghhh !!! twilight. but dont' quote me on that :]

Many people feel that because there wasnt enough "Edward" in it. Personally I preferred the second one. I thought scenes in it - particularly those in Italy - were better written. Pax - C
