Every cause needs a scapegoat. They don't care what the profit margin is. They don't care that it is a constant up and down in that industry. They just want to whine.

Because the person they hand their hard-earned money to is wearing a shirt with an oil company logo on it.
That, and the price of everything else in the gas station is jacked up so high, it makes them look like profiteers.
This wouldn't be so obvious if there were not 18 people holding 20-dollar bills waiting in line behind one jerk who is actually buying all that stuff with ones, quarters and pennies, and playing the lottery, and getting cigarettes, and buying phone cards, and chewing the fat, even buying gas- while getting royal treatment by the counter-person wearing the shirt with the oil company logo on it who (unbeknown to the rest of us) finally breaks even for the day on that transaction.

OPEC and traders are oil companies.
I don't blame oil companies, I think them as I am a stockholder.
Thank you! Thank you!
As for the law of supply and demand, we have successfully negated it. We raise prices if the demand goes down to compensate for reduced demand.

The latest ploy oil companies come up with is to blame the refineries, but they OWN the refineries.
There is a surplus of oil worldwide today, but due to lack of refinery capacity, prices are going up.
That's what having monopolies in the petroleum industry brings us.

It's all about supply and demand. In the 80s we had twice the number of refineries in America as we have now. Now 20 years later we have a much greater demand and only half the refineries. EPA standards forced them to shut down. Now it takes 15 years to build one refinery. Five years of whitch are needed just to get the permits and find a good site.

Statistics say the United States is one of largest consumers
of oil on the planet. So, why is it, we aren't paying $8./gal
like alot of European countries?
I'm sure that's in the works, as long as they can get away
with it - it's called sweetheart deals & cronyism.
