Well, hes 19 and hes ok but we were in a bamboo garden and he picked up a dead one and started trying to break it. Somehow he got hurt on his finger and elbow. It looks like a bunch of tiny fine little splinters and it made the area welp up like a bee sting. Again, hes ok and DONT SEND ME TREATMENTS. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this.

yep, it's happened to me once b-4! sux for the first day or so but it goes away on it's own! sorry for the lil guy!

Yeah, bamboos have an irritant in their tissues to keep predators off them. Those fibers are fine, sharp and love to work into the skin. Had it happen several times. OUCH!!!!

Cure for 19 year old.........Don't pick up sticks and try to break them...lol
Although bamboo is a grass it is just as tough as lumber.........never heard of it happening but I guess anything is possible
