I have come across my fair share of men who made the fatal mistake of believing that I was stereotypically submissive just because I'm an Asian-American woman.
I believe the stereotype began with the olden days of East Asian culture (Japanese geishas, for example)...and was/is continuously perpetrated by American media.
I'm so happy to see more Asian women in American television that are cast in powerful roles as independent women, who are not sex-crazed and/or will not take BS from men (e.g., "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy"). Hey, it's only two TV shows, but it's a start, right?

In the olden days, Asian girls are very submissive, especially in China and Japan. Nowadays, most Asian girls are educated and more exposed to the outside world and no longer submissive to the men. However, I have also personally came across some educated Asian girls who are submissive once they are married.
