The Ojibwe in Minnesota didn't chop peoples heads off like the Mayan temple priests, so we can rule out that cultural characteristic. A common cultural characteristic of the 600+ native americans, i would have to say their views on nature? ie, that spirits inhabited the land....mother earth, etc.

Strong community, the whole tribe is like one big family.
Hatred of the white man.
