How do people do some of these dance moves at raves and to music like progressive house, trance, electro, house etc? Also some tips about how to bust moves on the dance floor at a rave would be handy. I have converse shoes, combat boots, and some business shoes and can't seem to wear down the tread on them enough. If you do slide around on the dance floor what brand of shoes are your personal favorites?

Sorry keep adding a little bit here and there. What about felt pads super glued to the bottom of my converse shoes? They'd probably last the night and fall off after a bit of walking on pavement.

The trick is to have the right kind of bottoms on your shoes. If you have the normal kind of bottoms on the soles, they will grip the floor. My suggestion would be to have a cobbler attach a layer of smooth leather to the bottom of the sole.

In actual fact, I know a person who had a shoe repair shop grind down the tread on his sneakers so that leather could be properly bonded to the sole. He can do a nice slide.

I don't know if the only people who do this are swing dancers applying leather to the soles of sneakers or tango dancers applying leather to the bottoms of less expensive shoes.

There is a good "how to" article for applying suede soles to the bottom of shoes used for dance. It is actually something you can do yourself, if you are so inclined. http://www.twosteptidewater.com/Dance_Tips/dance-tip-79-do-it-yourself-suede-sole-shoes.htm

Well first thing, change your shoes, make sure they are flat and test them.. Try sliding and if its easy and you can make any dance moves.
