I currently live in Florida USA. I am interested to find a state or country that does not tax a persons land with property tax.

The state is debating to remove the property tax and switch over to a current state sales tax of 6% to 8.5%. This I am in favor as in my house member in the state capitol, but the state Senator and governor are opposed to this so I have let them known that they are fired and would not have a vote from me in there next election.

This link offer more details http://thehottestthing.com/government/taxes.htm

I am ready to buy land that truly is going to be mine and hand down to future family members with out worrying the local government can claim it if the have property taxes tied to it.

Only a total FOOL (or a very rich person) would trade property taxes for a sales tax. Sales taxes fail to take into account the taxpayer's ability to pay.

If you own property and are typical middle class, switching to a sales tax would be a wash -- what you don't pay in property taxes will be made up in sales taxes.

If you're poor you don't own property or pay property taxes so your tax bill would go UP.

Now, if you're WEALTHY, it's a GREAT deal since you would be paying a much smaller portion of your total income in taxes with a sales tax. And you could probably afford to dodge the bullet on many of those by making key purchases in lower tax jurisdictions, something that the poor and middle class have much less opportunity to do.

Nice idea, right? Give the wealthy a nice juicy tax break, at the expense of the poor! Hopefully the FL lawmakers come to their senses on that and scrap the idea. Glad that I don't live there!
