What does the name Merrissa mean?

I found out the name Merrissa or Merissa, means "of the Sea", but there was one place that I found that it meant "to pour out of the sea", but I can not find it again. Some one I know named their child Merissa Joy so that it would to pour out Joy does would that actually be its meaning? Do you know where it has to pour out in its meaning?

Marissa means "of the sea." It is from the Latin Mare.
