there is many things that will give you that error message,
1 spyware , run a good spy ware program like grisoft.coms avg antispy, and antivirus, and root kit..
2 your running too many programs at once, and the cpu, and ram is tied up (run fewer programs while trying to do what ever you were when you get the message)

Right click my computer, then select properties. Click advanced and set the virtual memory or pagefile. Increase both the current size and the max.

Increase your virtual memory via the control panel. Use the help documentation to find out how to do this (press F1 at the desktop).

Delete some pictures, games, graphs, etc...those tings take a lot of memory.

Lack of hard drive space is the main cause, follow by virus infection, there could be many other reasons, but the two above are most likely.
