NO! Well of course Boy George was, (is) and George Michael of "Wham" but the majority of new wave 80's artists weren't, trust me. I was 18 in 1980 and I still love 80's music. Bands like Duran Duran wore makeup like Adam Ant but they weren't gay. The Human League wore makeup, but the lead singer wasn't gay. I could go on and on. Long live the 80's!

quite the opposite...
Androgony was the "fashion sytle" of the early 80's, and you saw that with AFOS ( a flock of seagulls), Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Boy George/ Culture Club, WHAM!!, Duran Duran, etc etc..
Granted... a few of the above WERE flaming.... but not as many as you think...

There were a signifigant amount who were gay, but most of the look and act was marketing more than lifestyle.
