Absolutely! That's why the season is 162 games. The Yankees have no problem scoring runs so once they get their pitching straighten out the Red Sox we be challenged.

I never count the Yankees out after that 1978 season.
Sometimes I'm asked "What moment in Red Sox history affected you the most?" The answer is Bucky F Dent, Monday, October 2nd, 1978 around 5 pm Eastern Daylight Time. Keep in mind I was 11 on this day.
That day was more painful than the 86 Series, because just like in 2003, the Red Sox should have plowed through the playoffs to win, but no, the Yankees (or MFY's as Remdawg Nation calls them) were there to add to the Red Sox pain and suffering. Aaron Boone only had the F added to his name for a year, with the Red Sox winning on Wednesday, October 27th, 2004 at 10:27 pm Central time.
This is not an obession, it's my life, as a Red Sox fan.
Thank GOD for 2004 and the New England Patriots!

anyone who said that the yankees will win the pennant, is VERY MUCH MISTAKEN!! the red sox are obviously the best team in the AL East and with the way Manny and Big Papi hitting the ball nothing is going to change. I would also like to add that the red sox have some relief pitchers in there bullpen, while the yankees only rely on Mariono Rivera, who has not perfomed this whole season. If you ask me my answer will always be the same, SOX RULE AND WILL ALWAYS RULE! Go Sox

I'm a Sox fan, but I will concede the Yankees are never out of it. It's still early in the season. The Yankees have started out slow the past couple of years, but always seem to be in the running come September. Should be a great season coming up. Will Clemens be ready to play against the Sox on June 1??????

The Yankees can hit but pitching is a serious issue. With pitching at a premium, it will be difficult for them to win or even make the wild card unless the Red Sox suffer a series of pitching injuries. Rest assured the wild card will come out of the AL Central. The Yankees will be forced to make a move or two but that means more sacrifice of the future.

You can never count out the Yankees.
Have to admit the Sox 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th should what that team was made off.

Keep in mind, the Yankees have decimated their farm system in making some big trades over the last several years. The result of this has been devastating....no bullpen. This could be the year that their greed and "The Yankee Way" finally catch up to them and see them finish 4th or 5th in the A.L. East. Go Sox!

Last time I checked, there was about 126 more games left in the season...
Unfortunately, yes the Yankees have a chance. The good news is that, even though it's unlikely, the Devil Rays and Blue Jays also have a chance.

I made a bet with my boss last year when they were 10.5 games out of first that they would win the division. Guess who got the winnings in that bet. The Sox look great but dont ever count out the Yanks, they seem to always start off slow.

YES! They most certainly do. Everyone knows that the Boston Red Sox choke and the end, which leaves the pennant for the taking. Obviously, the Yankees will get it.

The Yanks still have a chance, but its not a very good one. They're hitting is about the only thing keeping them alive right now. With people getting injured andd put on the DL left and right, they're being physically and mentally worn down. Criticism is being put onto joe torre because of wearing his bullpen down too fast but the blame should be put on the starting pitching. Very few starters have made it past 5 innings. With the Rocket coming back, we will have to see how the rest of the season unfolds.
