...with the more gut-busting, side-spliting sight gags one could shake a stick at, one of the greatest French comedies ever, is definately 1973's "The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacobs".
A bumbling and bigoted Frenchman finds himself abruptly taken hostage by Arabs; he is forced to dress up as an Arab himself, end ends up being pursued by assassins, and the law enforcement. In yet another switch of disguise, to avert the determined pursuers, he assumed the role of a distinguished rabbi, having returned to France, after many years in America; this only succeeds in making matters considerably worse, as her gets caught up in further riotous mistaken identity, infidelity and neighborhood gossip.
...non-stop hilarity, through and through!!!
