The Vietnam War occurred in present-day Vietnam, Southeast Asia. It represented a successful attempt on the part of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam, DRV) and the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam (Viet Cong) to unite and impose a communist system over the entire nation. Opposing the DRV was the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam, RVN), backed by the United States. The war in Vietnam occurred during the Cold War, and is generally viewed as an indirect conflict between the United States and Soviet Union, with each nation and its allies supporting one side.

The Vietnam War first began in 1959, five years after the division of the country by the Geneva Accords. Vietnam had been split into two, with a communist government in the north under Ho Chi Minh and a democratic government in the south under Ngo Dinh Diem. Ho launched a guerilla campaign in South Vietnam, led by Viet Cong units, with the goal of uniting the country under communist rule. The United States, seeking to stop the spread of communism, trained the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and provided military advisors to help combat the guerillas

We went in there to stop communism from entering our country. It went on and on my friend..the returning vet was scorned as a baby killer because they were looking out for their own lives and the lives of their commarades..They were not baby killers...Upon returning from Vietnam the vet also had severe stress syndrome which was not given name or treatment until years later. This means that many vets went undiagnosed and left to their suffering; and wives distress and love. Some vets adjusted...if you call it that.
I married a Vietnam vet and we are still together after thirty five years of marriage, two kids and facing empty nest syndrome...We were the lucky ones? Read on..
Vietnam vet: In the seventies was unemployed had severe stress syndrome undiagnosed and usually homeless. Had to endure agent orange and to this day the situation on agent orange is either cheated the vet or closed. Agent Orange fund was set up for the kids of the vet who endured the aftermats of the insecticide; then came the kids who had deformities maybe if the fund lasted...for a payout of $600.00...Some never received the payout...like the majority.
Let us never have a Vietnam long lasting war...

It was a mistake
58,000 Americans died
Maybe a million Vietnamese
And about 2 million Cambodians.
But actually, an innocent mistake.
A bad situation our government accidentally stumbled in to.
But it could not get out.
Trapped like a saber tooth tiger in a tar pit.
Struggling
Dying
Thousands gone
Fathers
Sons
Brothers
Gone
Gone forever
For nothing
For pride
Arrogant pride of two presidents
whose names shall forever live in infamy and shame
Nixon and Johnson
"I shall not be the first American President to lose a war"
And to them, 58,000 American souls was a fair price to pay
for their arrogant pride.
A mistake.
Learn from your mistakes?
Nope.

It doesn't appear that you are asking for homework help, but you are seeking someone to complete the whole assignment.

Maybe search around for "The 10,000 days war". This was an HBO series about 20 years ago that included many letter from the soldiers to home.

No. No offense intended, but I don't know your teacher, her expectations, your grade, or the way you write. Besides, I don't condone cheating. I'm sure the rest of the Y!A community doesn't either. Look somewhere else, please.
