It is important that he or she has strong ethical standards. which if any religion is their source does not matter to me. Many of the most ethical people I know profess to have no specific religious faith; and many very unethical folks claim to be deeply religious.

I have always considered being a person of faith a personal choice and I do not impose my views on others. My faith is between myself and my God. I would expect the same thing from the President. I expect the next President to stand up and honor the will of the people who elected him/ her and to uphold the separation of church and state. It is of no importance to me if the next President is religious. There are many people in politics who hide behind religion and preach to others but are immoral hypocrites themselves.

I don't give a rat's a$$ what they worship, it could be a blade of grass for all I care. Just don't push it on me or anyone else and don't let those believes drive your decisions....look where the religiously insane hack currently in office ahs put us based on his faith and "gut feelings".
The president should be and always be making decisions that are best fot the country as a whole, not just his freaking party and his wallet.

I don't care about his/her faith...as long the person can get the country back on track...what faith the President professes...it his/her personal matter..it would be much better for the citizens of this country if he doesn't bring it in public arena..rather concentrate on more earthly things that need to be taken care of.

It would be important for the next president to have religion. Religion is important, but it is for the better if the person isn't a big religious zealot. But it is also important for the next president to have something that isn't so common anymore. Common sense.

I don't trust religion of any kind I only trust God.
I would like for someone who loves God to be our next President but he doesn't necessarily have to be religious.
I love God with all my heart and am a Christian but I don't practice a religion.
I don't need to.

Religous beliefs not the point, but to represent the American people wishes, and help bring consensus to move the country foward. Too much dictomatic thinking in black and white terms on moral or economic issuses is corrosive to getting things done the voters wants. Religion should play no role who a person votes for its getting the job done for the American taxpayer, and voter.

no, not at all. I would like the next leader to be strong in their convictions and decisive without relying on polls to guide their way.
