When I'm upset I usually focus my energy on stuff I enjoy doing. Listening to music, reading a book, working out, watching a movie.. or writing it down in a journal which helps clear my mind. Then when you're not upset, you can look back and laugh at yourself for getting so upset over it!

Distract it. Find something to do that you enjoy that will entice your mind enough to leave the other subject alone.

Read, play games, go see a movie, go out with friends. Anything really. Just make sure it won't remind you of what you're upset about, because that defeats the purpose.

The best way to keep you mind off of something is to think of something else totally off the subject , cleaning , cooking , sporty activity's usually draw your mind away from something that's bothering you. You could just go out and have fun with friends and family .

I try to go work on something like the yard or planting something in the garden anything to wear me out so I cant sit and think. Maybe try a good book but I lnow that can drive you nuts to when you cant stop thinking. Just wear yourself out or go see a good friend so you dont think about it for a little bit.

It helps me to exercise and listen to music. I am able to forget my worries and concerns. I also sometimes write it out in a journal and then leave it to a higher power to resolve. Prayer is another way.

Try to get involved in something that will take up your energy like gardening or housework.
