Been a few years but we used to pay $25.00 per visit. The lady that did this was rarely there over 2 hours and usually under that time. She did this for us for about 3 years and then begged off. I think becasue she was getting more somewhere else.
With the kids gone, found out we dont really need a cleaning lady anyhow.

I work in a very small office, and Merry Maids charges $140.00 for two people, and it takes them a little over an hour. That is for a cleaning every 6 weeks, it is slightly more if they clean less often, slightly less if they clean more often. They bring their own supplies, and they also have to factor in driving time, etc. Also, the first cleaning was slightly higher, but they put in a lot more time to thoroughly clean everything. I'm sure the maids get paid next to nothing, but this is irrelevant since my boss pays the service, not the maids.
If we say that in total they spend 2.5 person-hours cleaning for $140.00, that is $56 per person per hour. I think Merry Maids can charge a lot more than an individual person, since they are a well-known national chain. Perhaps you can charge half that, maybe $25-$30 an hour. You should probably do some research and try to find out what other people with their own cleaning business charge. If there are any businesses in your area you can call and ask for estimates to clean your own home, or if they are outside your area (and not your future competitors) you can be up front and ask them for guidance on what you should charge.

I paid my girl (cleaning lady) $50 for 4 hrs every other wednesday. She was extremly thorough. She insisted in bringing her own cleaning products she was used to and aware of there capabilities. She did not enter my home office, and I had her leave laundry alone. She did bathrooms, kitchen and living area's. She dusted from top to bottom.
I would not pay more, I feel she was well paid for a service well delivered. I spoke with my nieghbors and she soon had 3 other homes in my block. She was content with her pay.
If someone was cheaper, I would be leary of quality of service.
I moved from this address and miss her the most.
