the original idea behind the 'common market' was to make sure all members had equal rights etc.
this works extremely well if you are french or german, the rest of us can go take a jump.
the inclusion of all the old eastern bloc countries have ruined it and we (the uk) would be better off out of it now i feel.

Certainly not the best thing since sliced bread, but on balance, I'd sooner be inside looking out than outside looking in.
