I know for sure that my mother payed three full months pay for her singer sewing machine. (She worked as professional dress maker at the time, and was in her 20's.)
I do not remember the model numbers and I do not know exchange rates, but this might give you an idea about cost of a machine then. And she bought it nearer 1958. She had the best model she could get then, and she still uses it for all her sewing work.

Toyotas are usually well known for their dependability. However, you managed to put 86000 miles on it since you've owned it. That's an awful lot of mileage in just 3 years. I'd actually be surprised if Toyota pays for any of the repairs since most warranties expire between 60,000 and 72,000 miles.

According to this ad, the machines started at $89.50 - not sure of the price for that particular model though.
