They measure your baby an calculate a possible weight from a formula, the Hadlock formula (using head circumference, abdominal circumference, femur length) is the most accurate.

Baby will be about 2.2 pounds weight (1Kg) and around 15 inches (38cm) in length from head to heel at 28 weeks

Good luck

they automatically Measure out what they believe the weight of the baby is during sonograms, they can of course only guestimate since they cannot put the baby on a scale, but yes they already do this.
next time ask them, they will share with you. And at 28 wks if the baby cooperates then you will be able to tell the sex, sometimes the boys are awful shy!

Yes, you can ASK your doctor for a fetal growth scan. Depending on how picky your insurance company is, they will have to be able to come up with a good enough reason to get another one done. I dont think its the doctors you have to worry about so much, its the insurance companies that can be the pain in the butt.

From experience the only thing the doctor can offer is an educated guess. This will leave a window of a pound or two either way.

They can give you an estimate on how much your baby weighs during an ultrasound.
