Since she was digging at it during the day as well, prior to the bath and water getting in it, I'd lean towards ear infection as well. But, it could just be an ear ache at this point. Ear infections usually start around 6mos of age when they typically start cutting teeth. Usually they will run a fever of over 102, cry more when lying down, cry more when drinking from bottle (sucking hurts). To rule out the water being the culprit, the alcohol suggestion in the ear should do the trick. The alcohol will help make the water either evaorate quicker or drain. If she is still in discomfort, try alternating tylenol/motrin and put warm wash rags over the ear that's hurting. (you'll have to keep rewarming the washrag, once it cools, it won't be nearly as soothing). Your pediatrician may even phone in some ear drops for earaches. You want to give her a little time to try and get rid of the ear ache on her own before having the doctor proscribe antibiotics. Give her immune system a chance to fight off whatever it might be first. Unless she's got a prolonged, really high fever... in which case, call the doc right away. If the infection has only just set in... she may have been feeling the discomfort before the doc could see any infection. Hope she starts feeling better soon!
