it's not...we're the only other "civilized" nation on the planet that still has it...time for us to catch up and get rid of it.

It really isn't. It's kind of an "easy" way out for a mass murderer who doesn't want to go to jail. It's actually better to give someone a life sentence...allow them to think about what they've done.

This idea could be called "cruel and unusual" punishment, but I think it'd be fair to give each family member five minutes to do as they please with the murderer. No weapons. And the murderer can't fight back.

Some people just need to be killed. That's the what I think. I'm suprized that this is considered the worst punishment ever, and life in prison is better. Why? What would you rather do spend your entire life which could be several decades behind bars with violent criminals doing manual labor and eating grool. i'd rather them just shoot me and get it over with, seriously

Because there are murderers and rapists out there getting out of jail through loopholes in the system and this is just a way of making sure that they never do what they did again.

Although to be honest I don't agree with it fully..

John Wayne Gacy will never murder again. Ted Bundy will never murder again. Gary Gilmore will never murder again. Roger Coleman will never murder again. Danny Rolling will never murder again.

I could go on. If nothing else, the death penalty took the killers completely out of society with no possiblity of a return to more killing.

Its really sad that we still have it . If you kill someone one for killing someone then you to have blood on your hands and by that should be killed by someone . Tell me where the justice is in killing a killer because you then become no better and prove no point other then murder is OK

I dunno, most people seem to think in the way "do unto others that others have undone to you", despite what they say. I guess it makes people feel better that blood is payed with blood (not literally blood in the ways of the u.s. legal system though).
