It doesn't hurt to try. She just needs to be careful. Glasses are a burden. I'd say yes. e

Yes, if she is responsible enough to take care of them.
I got mine when I was 14 and it changed my life, getting rid of coke-bottle lenses. I would probably not still have such a problem with insecurity if I had been able to get them earlier.
Although most contacts out there are supposed to be worn for anywhere for 2 weeks to a month without removing them, I would recommend she remove them nightly. I have the 2 week kind but they come out every night. Your eyes need oxygen and anything you place over them (lens, your eyelid) reduces the oxygen and that's when you can cause capillary damage.
So she will always need a pair of glasses as back-up.
Good luck!!

I would have to say that would have a lot to do with the child, and if you can handle the expense. Fortunately we have never needed to buy contacts, or glasses for any of our children, but your question made me think of a decision we made on ear piercing. My older daughter has earrings and has had them since she was little. We haven't gotten any for our younger daughter because she is such a tom-boy and plays so rough that we are afraid of what could happen. I have never had to deal with contacts myself, but had a roommate that had them and I know those things have to be kept clean. What you need to decide is if your 11 year old can handle that responsibility. At that age some children are a lot more responsible and neat than others.

If the person is responsible and mature, then I don't see why not. I started wearing contacts when I was 11 years old. If someone can't handle taking care of them properly though they should not get them (i.e., sleeping with them in, not cleaning them). However, there are always a few health issues to consider as well. Younger people need to make sure they get soft, breathable lenses, especially since their bodies (in this case, eyes) are still growing. Disposables (2 week soft lenses) are usually best to start with. It's also always good to consult your optometrist first about the health of your eyes and whether or not he/she recommends it.

I don't see why not, they should be responsible enough. We use contacts in our five year old, because he broke 2 sets of glasses that cost us $700 a pair, contacts are way easier, Get the night and day ones. They stay in for 30 days. SUPER easy

well she has to understand the responsibility!! I mean my sister had contact lens and she came to my parents right away when they started bothering her! I mean kids that age start to become more indeplendet and they start worrying what they look like so she has to be sure that if they bother her she comes torward you. Some children dont come becasue they are scared they will get there glasses back!!
So i think it is ok....

Well yes and No, some 11 year old girls may not be ready for contacts. You have to keep your eyelashes clean so nothing gets in your eyes and you have to be able to put them in and take them out before your reye doctor will let you have them. i have contact lenses.

As long as you're pretty responsible, there's really no reason not to. I got my contacts when I was 11 and I didn't have any problems.

Yeah, it's totally fine. If she doesn't want to wear glasses, you shouldn't make her feel insecure by not letting her wear contacts. Try it out for a few weeks, if it gets irratating or whatever, then solve for the glasses. Good luck.

I think it depends on the maturity of the girl. If she's always been good about taking care of herself and her things, I think she'd be fine. She'll need to be responsible about how long she leaves them in, cleaning them, storing them when she takes them out, etc.
You should talk to her optometrist, who can weigh in on the advisability of getting contacts before she's fully grown
