First put peroxide on it.

Wash with water, put neosporin on it and put a bandage on it. Do that 2 or 3 times a day. At night before you go to bed, don't put a bandage or neosporin on it, let it dry out. Wash it when you shower. Repeat.

Go and see the nurse again.
One thing to keep in mind is to irrigate the wound with water. This dilutes the bugs and helps the body to heal.
Our bodies are made of 70% water anyway, so it makes sense that water heals.
Irrigate the wound 3-4 times a day. I've seen many wounds heal on their own accord just using water. You can *gently* scrub the pus away. Avoid peroxide because this kills the new growth. Even too much neosporin can retard new growth.
I'm a health professional. But if the wound and redness persists, see the nurse or a doctor.
Good luck.

you said that you "slid". Sounds like a nasty scrape and the wound you described sounds like the normal healing process. It will drain alot and probably stick to any dry bandage you put on it. If you can get some normal saline and then put neosporin and a piece of non-stick telfa dressing on it with some gauze and wrap it lightly.

It sounds like it is. Check it with your school nurse, or a doctor.

pain, redness, swelling, heat, and pus drainage are signs of infection

It isn't. I think that the puss and everything is actually is a sign that it is a healing sign.
