I am a junior in high school and am in one honors and AP course of which I have a A in both. But I moved a lot in my previous years in high school and had to take standard classes of which I pretty much got straight A's in. I am taking 4 AP's my senior year and am in the National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, and have a Principal's Achievement Award. I also have been on the High Honor Roll every Quarter sice the beginning of my sophmore year. I have also done volunteer and community service work along with extra curriculars this year and next. I am also going to graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors Designation and also with the title of Language Distinction (for taking 5 years of foreign language) And you have to live in NY to know what Regents is lol) Basically it is standardized tests of different subjects that every student in the state of NY has to take. Do I have a good chance of getting into a SUNY school???

Although there are many SUNY schools and some may be somewhat more restrictive than others, you sound like a terrific candidate for just about any school. From what you say, you have done extremely well at everything you have done, and the only problem was that because you moved a lot, you couldn't take as many honors or AP classes as you might otherwise have done. Not every school even has an honors program or offers AP classes, and you have proven that you are capable of doing well in these classes by getting As in the ones you HAVE taken. Although you still have a year left in high school and things can change, based upon your past record, I'd be surprised if schools weren't falling all over themselves to get you. Certainly you are the kind of student that any school I've ever worked for would love to have.

If what you say about your academics is accurate, you will have no problem being accepted into any SUNY school. What you need to decide is what area you want to study and which SUNY schools are best for that. Then go visit them because they are all quite unique.

www.suny.edu is the main website for the SUNY system and it would be a reasonable place to start gathering additional information.
