2 reasons; 1- The tilt of the Earth on its axis and; 2-The Earths orbit around the Sun.

The axis of the earth is inclined to the plane of the ecliptic as the earth goes around the angle to the sun changes from a minimum at the winter solstice (NH) to a maximum at the summer solstice (NH).

Because the earth is in constant movement. As it moves around the sun, the angle sun light hits it changes and thus causes different areas of it to be warmed at different rates which causes different weather patterns

because the earth is on an axis and is always tilting and moving. when we are facing the sun, it is summer and when we aren't facing the sun it is winter. in between the two time periods it is fall and spring.
