I'm not a perfect person, far from it. But I'm also not a bully. I've been through high school. Watched my friends get beat up and verbally abused all the time, and that’s why I try to limit myself on those things. But as I've said I'm not perfect but that doesn't mean that I'm going to become a jerk deliberately. Doesn't anyone want to feel like they are respected and not bullied?

"Do onto" - can't say that I've heard of that one. Sounds kinda kinky.

I am not sure you have fully understood this maxim. It means do not harm anyone and if you do do not be surprised if they harm you in return. What puzzles me is why your friends were getting beat up and verbally abused all the time. You must have had an odd bunch of friends

Yes, it's a variation on "The Golden Rule", and comes in positive and negative forms

"What you do not wish for yourself, do not impose on others."

Trouble is, I find a lot of what I "would have done to me" doesn't work when reflected. Apparently my thinking and tastes aren't mainstream.

So, don't do unto others until you've checked with them that it's OK?

The Golden rule that we are taught in kindergarten. I just heard my 7 year old tell my 10 year old that rule, because she was taunting her. We all want to be respected on our values and accepted for who we are.

I hope you've got a good strong soap box as you have been doing a lot of standing on it tonight.
