You need to encrypt your network. If you run unencrypted all of those computers that you can see can also see you. After you encrypt you will still be able to see these extra computers, but they won't be able to see yours. The reason you can see them is that they are not encrypted.

I do not get paid for this but I will give a clue

I assume that u have a wireless network//// give more info about u network and router first

what u should do is ::::
1. open your browser double click
2. on bar type 192.168.0.1 for D-link ROUTERS
192.168.0.2 for others routers
3. get into it
4. choose Security Cipher Type: TKIP AES
PSK / EAP: PSK EAP ----WPA OR 2WPA the best for this time.
5. type the key and reboot the router
6 if u have a laptop connected wireless to router try to type the same key that enter in router in your laptop.

Give us a bit more info on the way your network is set up, wired or wireless, number of machines you do know etc.
