In your personal opinion, that is- please don't post anything hateful here but I'd like to hear what you think.

I wasn't 100% convinced until I saw this video on YouTube- it's Elvis singing 'Unchained Melody' in 1977, a month from his death and- all jokes about his condition apart- how many modern performers would put on this much of a show, and pour so much effort, in to a gig when they knew their days were numbered?

YES YES YES YES YESSSSSSSSS! I love Elvis, I'm only 26, so was never around when he was, but my nan was his biggest fan, so I was always around the music, and the movies...boy they were cheesey, but sooo good!! I have a small obsession with Elvis if I'm honest, both of my children have middle names associated with him, as I really wanted to pass him on through them, incase he's no longer the "best" by the time they grow up. But, I think he will be, cos let's face it...who has even come close since his death!? Well MIchael Jackson, but he has other issues that detract us from his music, so Elvis is, and will always be, the ultimate KING!!

First, I really don't think Elvis knew his days were numbered, but that aside. Elvis is definately one of the most famous singers ever, and always put on his best show. I think it was one of the Beatles who commented on not knowing how Elvis was able to handle all the fame by himself. The Beatles had four members to share the attention. Elvis was an incredible performer, a decent actor, and from what I have heard a good person in general.

He had the most amazing voice, superstars on his level i believe do no longer exist.

I have seen the video before and it is the only one i find hard to watch, i prefer to remember him the way he was in this performance like when he sang "If i can dream" superb!!!!

Oh the most beautiful man i have ever seen,he was the full package!!!

Elvis has not left the building.......Long live the "KING!!"

well, i grew up with a mother loving him to pieces and yet, i don't believe I've ever heard anyone with such a powerful voice that could reach the back of a concert hall without a microphone.

it was a shame he died the way he did.....but yes - i think he probably was the best there has ever been.

Elvis is No.1...in the Elvis category.

I love Elvis: he is in a league of his own.

As well as all the wonderful music he recorded, his characterful wit comes over in the old films.

Elcis was Elvis. People liked him. Roy Orbison sang better. Today, Elvis is a business and nothing to do with anything else.
