I realize that most stereotypes are not true and based upon a small percentage of people. But I was wondering, are gay men really the way they are portrayed on television as wimpy, overtly fashion conscious, attracted to any and all men, etc? And are lesbians really manly, fat, unattractive and anti-male?
Just being curious, as my name implies...

You are just being curious? And here we thought you were merely a curiosity. But clearly it' was only the outward manifestation of an intrinsic ignorance.

So let me get this straight: You 'realize that most stereotypes are not true and based upon a small percentage of people', and yet you're wondering if the all the most negative stereotypes about gays/lesbians are true.
Do you see the problem with that? There's a point where 'curiousity' is just a masquerade for idiotic bigotry, and you just arrived there.

Not at all. Some lesbians have too much testosterone but certainly not all or even a large majority. Plenty of gay guys are not particularly fashion conscious at all. Gays and Lesbians are just as choosy as straight people. Lesbians and Gays look the same as straight people except in some cases where they dress differently.

I couldn't tell you the true nature, but I could tell you what is shown by the media is far from the truth. Those views are only to support society's homophobia, because after all, how come you rarely hear of positive things that the general public is against? Gays and lesbians make up all kinds of people and those stereotypes ain't the only one.

Well, Gays and Lesbians are people. Stereotypes are formed because they found a COUPLE of men overly fashion conscious, this doesn't mean that all gays are like this. But Gays and Lesbians are just like you and I, this doesn't mean that they act or seem differently as we do. They are simply attracted to people of their own sex.

As a gay man, I am not ashamed to say that I have as much masculinity as any straight man I've met. I'm not really that fashion contest, I have a very high threshhold for pain, and would not run away from danger if it could accomplish something.
And gay men are sexually attracted to hot men (based on their tastes, of course).
And I know not a single gay man with a lisp.

Gay people are people, which means there are all kinds. Some are the limp-wristed type, and some are macho-like.
It goes the other way as well. I know many heterosexual men who talk lightly and are into interior decorating.
The same can be said about lesbians. They are people and each one is beautifully different.

There are gay men who you wouldn't even know they were gay unless they told you and lesbians who you wouldn't know are unless they told you either. "Unattractive" is in the perceptions of the beholder and what your standard of "unattractive" might not be anyone else's. It'd be wiser to cultivate altruism and compassion before falling prey to stereotypes.

Unless you were raised and still live on some very remote island with no other people than yourself this is a really stupid question.
