seeing that most of the slugs I*ve ever run across at outdoors and I*m usually barefooted...I*d have to say stepping on one of them is worse. Squishing a cockroach is sickening in itself, but seems to be a part of life. No matter how much a person *defogs* their homes, or how clean they keep them these uninvited and unwanted critters keep coming back.....to try to keep our homes free and clear of them when we see one we try to eliminate them...yuk...but true...

Squishing is just one of those words that sounds pleasurable to me so the slug stepping would be worse.

Ooooh...stepping on a slug. But, if I saw a cockroach I would definitely squish it.

Cockroach in bare feet! I'd say snails were worse than either, though (I trod on one with shoes on and I could actually FEEL the shell crunch through the sole!)
Slugs - not that bad, I trod on one barefoot. It was dark and when I trod on it, I thought 'eeh, probably just a patch of mud'. Next morning, I woke up and saw that it was a slug XD

Definitely have to go with stepping on a slug. Especially if you're not wearing shoes. Ugh!!

Stepping on a slug - involves a fair risk of slippage and a comedy face first visit to the floor.
