Hi
Although height doesn't bother me too much, I wondered if I could ask for your assistance on predicting, roughly, my final height.
I'm 16.5(almost) and live in the UK, i'm now 180cm - which I think is 5'11", although I eat healthy, in the last 5 years I haven't really done much sport - i used to cycle and run a lot.

My dad is about the same height, perhaps a few cm taller
My mum is about 5'4".
Grandparents on my dads side: 6'0" & 5'2"
Grandparents on my mum's side: 6'2" & 5'0"

My dad didn't have a great deal of good nutrition in his youth, so perhaps could have been a bit taller, as all of the other males on his side of the family are 6' or over.

So my question really, if possible is how tall should I be - not too sure when growing in boys is meant to end, as I have noticed recently I have reached my dad's height and wondered if I would out-grow him.

Thanks for your time and I hope I haven't confused things too much!

Sorry, but my crystal ball is in the shop getting a new transmission.

You are already above average in height. You will be whatever height you were meant to be, and not one mm taller or shorter. Just relax and buy new trousers when your ankles stick too far out of the old ones.

yes there is a way the doctor can be wrong because it is just a guess based on his growth now. All you can do is what you are doing and wait and see and it won't be the end of the world if he is short. Also genes are a funny thing you could have another child that is super tall. I am 6'3" my fathers family is all tall and so is most of my mothers but my brother is only 5'8" if that. He and i look very similar and come from the same gene pool but he is just short to average depends on how you look at it. I also think it is funny you are worried about your son being short and i am worried about my daughter being tall. she is only 7 months but is as long as our friends kids who are 9months to a year. Her height is in like the 95% I am so worried she will be like 6'1.

The population is growing in average height.
Go to a museum and look at the suits of armour and other clothes. They will look tiny.

In the 1500s the average height of a man was 5 feet.

Better food and health and just that survival of the fittest thing means -
The population is growing in average height.

extra - can't tell now BUT
measure the height from ground to knee of a 2 yr old child and one can predict the exact final height.

I've heard the formula that for males, the expected height is an average of the parents' heights plus 2 inches. It sounds like you've exceeded that height already, though! You seem to have tall-ish males and short-ish females on both sides of your family, so maybe, being male, you'll take after the men and grow to be about 6'. That would be my guess, but I'm no expert.

You should reach about 6'3 possibly because even though your dad is considerably tall your mom is more average. Also the eating healthy does really help. I would get back into excersizing again because that also helps.

Hope that helps
