A Friend of mine owns a grocery store. He was telling me at a food convention last year the hot topic was Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola.

Most Coca-Cola bottling companies are independent. I manage a restaurant and when I make my soda order for the week I have a local Coke office to call to place my order.

Well apparently, that is way to complicated for Wal-Mart. What they want Coke to do is to ship directly to Wal-Mart straight from their plants. This would be devastating to local independent Coca-Cola vendors. Wal-Mart has threatened Coca-Cola if they do not do this Wal-Mart will take away most of Coke's shelf space. Wal-Mart will replace the shelves with their own brand, Sam's Choice. Coke has said it would be cheaper for them to take the lawsuits from their independent vendors than to loose the shelf space from Wal-Mart. How sad.

I really make an effort to only shop at Wal-Mart when absolutely necessary. I haven't done any Christmas shopping there in years, since they have left out the word "Christmas" in their greeting and advertising.

I support free enterprize. There will always be winners and losers, but walmart is winning. Keep in mind that no one has to shop at walmart if they dont want to. If I save my very hard earned money by shopping at walmart, They are doing something right.

Walmart is just buying lower and selling lower better than the other guys. No one has to shop there and no one has to work there, but millions do.

I wish Walmart could take over the US Government and apply their same business model.

They forced a pricing structure on rubbermaid. When rubbermaid went under because of it, the entire factory was bought by the chinese. Walmart's biggest supplier and hence where it has it's biggest purchasing office.
