Well, at least he is ignorint and not ignorant. Seriously, anyone reading your question could tell who the intellect would be in that relationship. What exactly bothers him about gays? Try not to think too much and maybe you won't be as shocked.

If you are that upset over his politcal suasion you should rethink your dating standards. Personally I would have a hard time dating a Democrat, so if it is that tough for you to handle another ideology (then are you really a liberal?) then you should retalk the relationship.

If that's all it takes for you to want to break up with him then maybe you should because you obviously dont like him that much. I know it sounds harsh but its true.

Ahh, maybe he is protesting his waste of a familial life by being a Republican? Maybe, just maybe, he understands that not everyone can be liberal and maintain the good things we have as a society due to the leaching of liberial psychosis.
Just an idea. Maybe he is the one in the right. (forgive the pun)

Evidently, you have trouble having a relationship with someone who is smarter than you are. If you can't get past this, the relationship is doomed.

I can imagine your surprise, but if I liked someone a lot I think I could overlook that - unless he repeatedly bangs on about how the insurgency is in its final throes and it's a shame Bush can't see a third term.
Give it more time.

Many relationships such as yours exist. The key is that you are both able to accept what you each perceive as the other's blind spots.

Oh hell yeah! Break up with him.
Or you could talk to him, and show him how corrupting, unjust and bogus the Republicans are.
Talk some sense into him.
Show him the pork the Republicans have been feeding for years, way more than anyone.
Show him the way, the enlightened way; that it is so wrong to be bigoted, narrowminded and unpatriotic to be a Republican.
Talk to him, show him that you care.
If he disrespects you, then sweetly smile and leave. Then change your numbers.
At least you tried.
Good luck!

He's a republican, and your not.
So what?
It shouldn't ruin your relationship. His views may be different then yours.
Break up if your not happy with the relationship, not if you aren't happy about his poltical views.
