I agree. I've seen too many with alot of book sense which is not bad but can't seem to get themselves out of the cold. People with that much book sense (that's what I call it) have a hard time talking on a level that I can understand and it's just about impossible to make them understand what you (me or anyone) is trying to tell them.
God gave some of us sense (not always enough common) and some he gave enough intelligence to, to be able to become teachers for those who have higher abilities (brain surgeons etc). I want those brain surgeons to have common sense as well though.
If I were lost in the woods, it's the common sense person that would more than likely find me than the Ph.d person.

You can have only a GED and no common sense. You can have a Ph.D and no common sense. I'd take the Ph.d and the common sense any day of the week. One doesn't preclude the other. Some people have book learnin' and no common sense. Some people ain't got no book learnin' and ain't got no common sense either. Good Luck. Have a nice day.

I have a PhD and I'm , not sure that if I had more common sense, I would not have worked so hard for a degree that I never used. I will have to agree with you, common sense wins hands down.

Common sense is all it takes to live a normal life. If you want to succeed in life a Ph.D would sure benefit.

Common sense. I have an M.A. degree, and little common sense. I could go for a little less education, and a lot more common sense!

Common sense. Phds, are important, but as long as you have the common sense also. I once had a neighbor with a Phd. He was very intelligent, but he couldn't figure out a simple pressure nozzle for a garden hose. At first I thought he was joking, but nope, he was serious.

If you lack common sense, then what good is a Ph. D? So, I guess my answer would have to be common sense.
